NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

An Evaluation for your Child: What to Expect

We know that seeking an evaluation can feel like a big step.  We see children 5 and over, as well as adolescents and young adults and our goal is to make the process as clear, supportive, and collaborative as possible.

The evaluation begins with a phone consultation with one of our neuropsychologists. This initial conversation gives us the opportunity to learn about your child’s unique strengths and challenges, understand your concerns and goals, and explain what an evaluation would involve. Together, we’ll determine the scope of the assessment and answer any questions you may have.

The evaluation itself includes in-person visits to our Manhattan or White Plains offices. During these visits, we use a variety of evidence-based tools to better understand your child’s thinking and learning profile. Areas typically assessed include intellectual abilities, academic skills, language, fine motor skills, memory, attention, executive functioning (such as organization and planning), and emotional well-being.

Understanding a child fully means looking beyond test results alone. In addition to working directly with your child, we gather input from parents, teachers, and other professionals who know your child well, such as physicians, therapists, or tutors. When appropriate, an observation in your child’s school setting may also be helpful.

Once the evaluation is complete, we meet with you for a feedback conference to review the findings in clear, practical terms. You’ll receive a comprehensive written report, along with personalized recommendations and an action plan designed to support your child at home and at school.

Our work doesn’t end there. We partner with you to think through next steps, including how to implement recommendations and how best to share the findings with your child’s school and other professionals. Throughout the process, our goal is to provide insight, guidance, and support—so you feel informed, empowered, and confident in advocating for your child.

An Evaluation for Yourself: What to Expect

If you are seeking a neuropsychological evaluation as an adult our goal is to make the process clear and genuinely useful.  We will begin with a consultation to understand your concerns, history, and goals, and to outline what an evaluation would involve.

The assessment itself takes place in our Manhattan or White Plains offices and uses evidence‑based tools to explore cognitive functioning, attention, memory, executive skills, learning strengths and challenges, and emotional well‑being. We integrate test results with your lived experience, a careful review of relevant background information, and when appropriate input from family or providers.  After the evaluation, we meet with you to discuss the findings in practical, understandable terms and provide a comprehensive report with individualized recommendations.

Our aim is to offer clarity, direction, and support—so you feel equipped to move forward with confidence.

PLEASE NOTE: Our practice does not accept insurance.
